I permanently thought it was about an assassination at a wedding. I never knew it was based on a book. Eerie
I reckon it is about a two people getting married, and some guy gets jealous beacause he like the girl. So he tries to shoot the guy that is getting married to her, but accidentally hits the girl.

It’s in fact about Ryan Ross’s dad (writer of all PATD songs). It’s an exaggerated tale of his father and his alchol abuse.
